First wedding of 2017 and a second Turkish-Italian wedding for us! This is a glimpse of their wedding celebrations at The Bethwood. The entire week prior to the big day we kept our eyes peeled on the weather as it was expected to rain during our scheduled time for their wedding portraits but the rain got pushed back just enough for us to finish taking pictures of our newly weds at the The Lambert Castle before heading back to The Bethwood. Needless to say, we used the dark clouds to our advantage to create some great moody winter imagery.

Check out this slide show we put together below!

We started our day photographing the groom and his groomsmen at The Bethwood. After photographing the casual interactions between the groom, his groomsmen and some formal photographs of the entire group, we decided to create something edgy. We wanted to isolate the groom while his groomsmen were interacting with each other so we used some dramatic lighting to achieve the look.

We love this moment between the bride and her maid of honor while the mom is helping our bride with her wedding gown.

Our bride's engagement ring - we decided to photograph it with a mist in the background. It was literally pouring outside when we were photographing these rings! Mehtap & Justin were very thankful for the rain being held back for the majority part of the day.

After our bride was ready, it was time for the first look! While she was walking towards the groom we caught her in this gorgeous winter light streaking through the bare trees. Winter weddings in New Jersey can be sometimes challenging but we love the low sun in the sky; it creates such soft light late in the afternoon. As a NJ wedding photographer we love finding and taking advantage of quality light!

Lambert castle is one of the many popular locations for wedding photography in North New Jersey. The castle has a lot of character and texture which works great for wedding portraits. It is also only a  few miles away from The Bethwood which was the wedding venue for the reception.

Our bride looked stunning in her gown from Bridal Reflections. The long veil complimented her gown and she was able to carry her dress flawlessly.

Any professional wedding photographer should be able to deal with changing lighting scenarios and still be able to produce stunning imagery. Although we were literally trying to beat the rain, we wanted to capture the castle, the dark yet dramatic clouds and of course our stunning bride creatively. We love photographing with natural lighting but it has its own limitations and having a strong knowledge and experience of creating your own light when needed helps tremendously to capture great photographs. We used our Profoto B2 lighting system which is very versatile & quick to setup; being able to work rapidly & produce great wedding photos is paramount with wedding photography.

After photographing our bride and groom at The Lambert Castle, we made our way back to The Bethwood. We could see the thunders in the distance and it started pouring moments after we arrived at the venue for reception. The rest of the evening was filled with a lot of dancing, emotions and fun!

When the best man drops the ball on the groom during the toast! We love that reaction from our bride.

Justin & Mehtap - it was such an honor and pleasure photographing you and your families; thank you!
