Update: We are very excited to share that Ashay & Dhara's wedding at The Rutgers Gardens was featured on Maharani Weddings. You can find the feature here.

Photographing weddings has given us a privilege to meet so many people from so many different walks of life, it's amazing. Ashay & Dhara were recommended to us by our friends Pooja & Sandeep. When we met Ashay & Dhara for the first time, we instantly connected. We talked about their wedding plans amongst other things (of course), and discovered our mutual love for podcast radios! Needless to say we immediately whipped out our cellphones to share some of our favorite stations. We often listen to the radio stations they recommended and cannot help, but think of our lovely couple!

It was still pretty dark out when we arrived at the bride's suite. With no natural light yet coming through the windows, we decided to light up the beautiful bride with our own light while completely isolating her from the background.
Indian weddings are full of intricate details. In this photograph, the bride was wearing her "payal" (anklets). But don't you just love her henna!? It's hard to miss these details!
This was a traditional Gujarati wedding. Once our bride was ready for the first look, we headed straight to Rutgers Gardens in New Brunswick.
Ashay & Dhara chose to see each other before the wedding at the Rutgers Gardens. Rutgers Gardens is a fantastic location for wedding photos. It is very well maintained and has many interesting spots to shoot wedding photographs. Here, as you see our groom patiently waiting for his bride to arrive.
The garden was teeming with life during that time of the year. It was summer and we can bet every one of us is ready for it now. The tall grass and that soft morning light was perfect for their wedding photos.
Rutgers Gardens does require a permit to photograph (professional wedding photography) on the grounds. Our bride and groom obtained a permit ahead of time for their big day. We had access to all the grounds and it was well worth it!
Early mornings are perfect for wedding photography. The sun was starting to peep through the tall trees which are found everywhere in Rutgers Gardens.
Ashay & Dhara allocated plenty of time for their first look and wedding portraits in the morning. We explored different parts of Rutgers Gardens while photographing them.

Ashay & Dhara had planned and organized their wedding day very thoughtfully. We got to spend considerable amount of time to photograph just the two of them. The bridal party and immediate family members were requested to meet us at Rutgers Gardens as well at a pre-decided time and location. The gardens are spread out on a vast piece of land so proper planning was an absolute necessity to make sure no one got lost!

Dhara & Ashay - it was a real pleasure photographing you and your families! We can't wait to celebrate with you guys again at Akash's (Dhara's brother) wedding this year!
