We’re willing to bet you feel the same way many of our clients do.

“We’re not used to having our picture taken, so we have no idea how to pose.”

“We’re going to look awkward in our photos.”

We hear it all. the. time.

Which is understandable! You probably haven’t had much practice (outside of selfies and the like) being in front of a camera. What do you do? How do you pose? What’s your “good” side? And how can you get the most natural, beautiful photos of your wedding day when the camera makes you want to hide under your veil?

That’s where we come in! We’re here to help you have a relaxed experience so that you feel comfortable in front of the camera. And as a result, you’ll have natural and candid photos that aren’t overly posed (or edited!)

We’ve been in the industry for a while now. And have photographed all kinds of people, all kinds of events, and all kinds of family or weather-related situations. So believe us when we say that there’s no reason to get stressed out about how you’re going to look in your photos.

Here’s why.

REASON #1: We’ll help you look (and feel) as YOU as possible.

Wedding photos, especially portraits, don’t have to feel awkward and posed. In fact, we go the opposite direction. Instead of staging and doctoring moments, we document them as naturally as possible.

We start by giving you a fair amount of direction on how to pose (naturally, of course.) We look at your height difference, as well as your chemistry and body language. Then, being a husband and wife team, we easily demonstrate how to pose based on those observations. Instead of leaving you two to figure it out for yourselves.

Once you start to feel comfortable in front of the camera, we unobtrusively capture the emotions and moments as they unfold.

REASON #2: You’ll feel a connection with us.

To have amazing and natural-looking images, you need chemistry. And not just chemistry with each other, but with your photographer too. That chemistry leads to comfortability and connection.

If you don’t feel comfortable with your photographer, you’re not going to feel confident in front of a camera lens. This is why we invest the time to get to know you genuinely.

We genuinely want to understand what’s important to you and what your concerns are. So, we’ll jump on a call with you. We’ll listen to your vision, ask questions, and answer yours.

And as we get closer to the wedding day, we’ll send you a questionnaire. It’ll ask questions like what heirloom jewelry or accessories you’ll be wearing. And if you’ll be doing a first look. Then, once we’ve had an opportunity to review your answers and piece together a timeline, the four of us will review everything together. This way, we can fill in any gaps to better navigate the day, address any red flags, provide solutions, and, most importantly, know who and what you want captured with absolute certainty.

REASON #3: We keep it real.

You can’t Photoshop love and emotions.

So instead, we put in the leg work by finding good light, beautiful backgrounds, and inspiring textures ahead of time. And by guiding you to find the most flattering angles.

This process ensures that everything comes out as naturally as possible, from the environment to your facial expressions. So let yourselves laugh without worrying about how your chin looks. Or let yourself cry without thinking about whether your makeup is running.

REASON #4: Get some practice in with an engagement session.

An engagement session will give you a bunch of great photos you can use on your wedding website, in the guestbook, and on your social media feeds. But it will also provide you the opportunity to practice and get comfortable in front of the camera for the big day.

Our goal is to get you relaxed and ready to be yourself in front of the lens and show your chemistry in action. During the engagement session, you can see our creative process firsthand. And how we interact with you to create meaningful, fun engagement photos.

The engagement session allows you to spend time focusing on what matters most – one another. It can serve as a reminder of why you’re together and making the commitment to get married. Which, in turn, might help (re)ignite the wedding planning spark that will probably take a toll.

Plus, while you’re all dressed up and spending time focusing on your engagement, why not go out for drinks and dinner after the session? It’s the perfect opportunity to set aside some date time and keep those good, loving feelings going.

REASON #5: You are your biggest critic…

…And we are your biggest cheerleaders! As your wedding photographers, we’re here to remind you that you don’t have to be a perfect 10, a model, or a photogenic to look stunning in photos.

Just think about it for a moment. When you look at photos of friends and family, do you scrutinize every little thing? Do you even see (or care about) a hair that’s out of place or a tummy roll that they complain about? Or are you seeing how happy and in the moment they are based on their expression?

And so it goes with you. Those kinds of “imperfections” are only things you notice and beat yourself up over. And you shouldn’t!

We know it’s easier said than done not to stress over how you’ll look on your wedding day. And you might here and there. But one thing you don’t have to think about is how you’re going to look in your photos.
